Online & Telephone Counselling

Professional counselling from the comfort and privacy of your own space

Life can feel difficult for many different reasons. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or low, coping with loss or change, struggling in a relationship, or simply aware that something does not feel right. Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to work through it alone.

Online and telephone counselling give you the opportunity to speak with a professional therapist without having to travel. You can attend regular sessions from your home or another private place, making counselling easier to fit around your work, health, caring responsibilities or other commitments.

If you are considering counselling and would like to find out whether I may be the right therapist for you, please get in touch.

A confidential space to talk

Counselling offers you time to pause and explore what is happening in your life without judgement or pressure. Our sessions will focus on you: what you are experiencing, what matters to you and what you would like to understand or change.

Some people value meeting online because being in familiar surroundings helps them feel more at ease. Others prefer the simplicity of speaking by telephone without being seen on screen. You can choose the option that feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.

You do not need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. We can begin with what is troubling you and work at a pace that feels manageable.

Why choose online or telephone counselling?

Online and telephone sessions may be particularly helpful if:

  • you would like to access counselling from your own home;

  • travelling is difficult because of your health, mobility or personal circumstances;

  • anxiety, a phobia or an unfamiliar environment makes attending in person challenging;

  • you have a busy schedule or caring responsibilities;

  • you live too far away to attend face-to-face sessions;

  • you feel more comfortable talking online or by telephone; or

  • you would prefer to avoid the time and cost of travelling.

Online counselling can be as meaningful as meeting in person for many clients. However, it is not suitable for every person or situation. We can talk about your needs before beginning and decide together whether online or telephone counselling is an appropriate option for you.

How sessions work

Sessions are arranged in advance at an agreed time and take place by secure Google Meet video call or telephone.

Online video counselling

Before each session, I will email you a private Google Meet link. At the agreed time, click the link using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. You do not need to create a Google account to join through the meeting link.

Telephone counselling

If you prefer not to use video, we can speak by telephone. We will agree beforehand whether you would like me to call you on your chosen number or whether you would prefer to call me.

I conduct every session from a quiet, private and uninterrupted setting. I will ask you to choose a place where you feel comfortable, will not be overheard and are unlikely to be disturbed.

Is online counselling right for me?

Online counselling works best when you have:

  • a private and comfortable place for your session;

  • a reliable internet or telephone connection;

  • a suitable device with current security updates; and

  • enough uninterrupted time before and after the appointment.

If a video connection fails, we will use the alternative contact arrangement agreed before your session. Although I take reasonable steps to protect your privacy and confidentiality, no online or telephone service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. More information about how I handle personal data is available in my privacy policy.

Online counselling is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department. You can also contact Samaritans free on 116 123, 24 hours a day.
